SPECIALTY CONTACT LENS OPTIONS

At ACLI we believe in exploring all the possibilities to find the best lens option for you!

SPECIALTY CONTACT LENSES

When we hear the term “contact lenses”, we tend to think of the traditional disposable soft lenses that many people wear. These can include daily, bi-weekly, or monthly soft contact lenses and are available at almost all eyecare offices. The main goal with these traditional contact lenses is to give patients an alternative to wearing glasses.
At ACLI, when we use the term “specialty contact lenses” we are referring to all the other lens modalities that typically require some extra customization, including but not limited to:

SCLERAL LENSES

Designed to provide enhanced vision, enhanced comfort, and/or protect the ocular surface

RIGID GAS PERMEABLE LENSES

Also called Rigid, corneal, or RGP lenses
Used to provide enhanced vision

HYBRID LENSES

Combining RGP vision with the comfort of a soft lens

ORTHOKERATOLOGY

A night time therapy that allows patients to see clearly without the need for glasses and contacts

MYOPIA MANAGEMENT

These lenses are designed to reduce myopic (nearsighted) progression in children

PEDIATRIC AND INFANT LENSES

Including Aphakic lenses, myopia management lenses, hard lenses, soft lenses, and many others.

CUSTOM COLOR PROSTHETIC LENSES

Custom designed lenses that can improve ocular appearance and/or enhance visual outcomes

SOFT LENSES

Traditional or Custom designed for enhanced visual benefit

Specialty contact lenses are custom ordered lenses that are typically built and designed based on our patient's needs and goals. While some specialty lenses are used to replace glasses wear, many are used to improve vision beyond what is achievable with glasses. Other uses can include improving ocular comfort or health, supporting ocular surface, improving cosmetic appearance, preventative care, improving quality of life, and there are many other uses not listed. Whatever your goal, ACLI aims to explore all options, including all specialty and traditional contact lenses options to allow you the best chance for success.
